You might have seen me talk about a discovery call and you may be wondering what it is, how it can help you and if you need it, so here's an overview and answers to a lot of questions I get asked.
What Exactly Is A Discovery Call?
A discovery call is an initial chat. It's called a discovery call as it gives us both a chance to discover more about each other. I love finding out about your ideas, where you're at just now and where you want to be.
I'll tell you about the ways I can help you get there and map out a plan of action with your next steps. You can then decide if you like the sound of that.
I don't just work with everyone and I want to make sure I'm a great fit for your brand and where you are at in your business journey, so I'll never recommend something you don't need or that won't suit your individual situation. The discovery call is free of charge and you're under no obligation to go ahead with any services or products.
How does it work?
You can choose a time that suits you from my calendar and once you've selected a slot you'll be asked to fill in a quick questionnaire. This gives me some background information about the collection you want to launch and which stage you're at. I ask you for this because I want to tailor the information I give you to your individual situation and product. It's not a one size fits all approach here, so getting to know you a little before our call allows me to gauge whether you're a complete newbie or if you have some experience in fashion.
You'll get confirmation by email with a link to follow on the day, as well as a couple of reminders closer to the time. If you need to reschedule the call you can do this online too.
Can I ask questions?
You sure can although this is not an in-depth advice session. The discovery call will identify what you need help with. You've probably heard about tech packs and samples but you're not quite sure how it all works or how much it costs so I'll walk you through some of this on the call.
You'll have tons of other questions you need answers to, and there is no way we can go over that on a 15-minute call, so if it's advice and guidance you're after then you may be better suited to a Power Hour where we thrash out questions you have in far more detail. Find out more about that here.
I'm new to this and feeling a bit out of my comfort zone.
90% of my clients have never had anything to do with the fashion industry prior to embarking on their journey to launch a fashion brand, so it's natural to feel a bit weird about meeting a stranger online to talk about something you know little about.
Don't be nervous, I'm super friendly and will put you at ease. There are no silly questions and everything you say to me on the call is confidential. I can guarantee the questions you ask me, or the areas you are feeling unsure about, are the same as everyone else, and everything you're perplexed about is totally valid.

I want to get to know you and I believe you should know me too. If we are to collaborate on your collection then I want to put a face to a name and I want you to feel relaxed working with me. Zoom gives us the freedom to meet online from any location and it works well if we need to share information or visuals. I was even using Zoom before it was cool ;-)
Will you try to sell me something?
I hate pushy sales too! You're booking this call because you feel like you need some help so I'd be doing you an injustice if I didn't talk about how I can help. I will tell you what services I offer, but there's absolutely no pressure to go ahead with any of it. You're in control.
